Glenella School Takes on the Plastic Bag Challenge
During the month of April, Glenella school has been collecting plastic bags in the hopes of cleaning up our earth and teaching our student more about recycling. So far we have approximately 1700 bags which is amazing! Thank-you to everyone who took the time to sort their donations into groups of 25 as it has made the collecting much more manageable! Next week Mrs. Blake will be bringing the bags to the collection center located in Walmart and we thank her for her help during this time!
Our school also participated in our annual community clean-up during Earth Day. We collected 8 garbage bags of litter from around the town and school yard. It was interesting to see what littered the most and it was found that items such as glass, old garbage bags, and various wrappers, were among some of the most frequently found items.
Our students are excited to have a clean community and now have a better understanding of what it means to help keep our earth clean!
